The eighth annual Tri-State Trek begins in Newton, Mass. on Friday July 23, 2010, and ends Sunday July 25, 2010 in Greenwich, Conn. A course 270 miles long, with 12 rest stops, two lunch stops and two overnight stops, it is an event littered with details. Official Bike Shop
Eastern Mountain Sports on Commonwealth Ave in Boston is the official bike shop for the Tri-State Trek. Located at 1041 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston, EMS Boston can handle all your Trek needs.
Trek Riders are encouraged to bring their bikes to EMS Boston for generous discounts on bike tune-ups and safety checks.
Bike Rentals
Our Friends at Urban AdvenTours are providing a 10% discount to any Trek Rider renting a bike for the weekend. Participants can contact Urban AdvenTours at info@UrbanAdvenTours.com or by phone at 617.670.0637.
Participants must make their own rental and delivery arrangements. We can transport bikes back to Boston at no additional charge.

starting at 5am on Friday, July 23.
Thursday Night Lodging
Lodging is not provided on Thursday, the eve of the event. However, we have secured a large block of
heavily discounted rooms at the Crown Plaza Newton. Rooms fill up fast! Participants wishing to book a room at the Crown Plaza can Click Here for access to our block.

Kick-off Carbo/Non-Carbo Chicken and Pasta Dinner
Taking place on the eve of the Trek, the annual kickoff dinner will take place at the Crown Plaza Newton on Thursday July 22. Tickets are $25.00 and are paid for at the door. Dinner serves at 7:20pm. An invite to RSVP for the dinner will go out in July.
Start Line & Ride Out
The official Start Line for the 2010 Tri-State Trek is the Crown Plaza Newton at 320 Washington Street, Newton, Mass.
We Ride out at 6am sharp on Friday, July 23.
ON THE EVENT
Ride Support
Riders travel a marked route at their own pace. Support vehicles patrol the route, and bicycle technicians are available all weekend for
assistance. We carry all gear and provide all food, water, fruit snacks and sports drink.
Medical Staff
Tri-State Trek Medical Staff patrol the route, and medical personal are available at rest stops and overnights.
Rest Stops
Our volunteer Crew set up and staff Rest Stops every 15-20 miles. There are 4 Rest Stops each day, and each Rest Stop is stocked with Clif Bars, Hydrive Energy Chews,
light food, fruit, energy drink and plenty of water to keep you going.
Lunch Stops
A full lunch (complete with deli sandwiches, salads, drinks, chips, and MORE) is served each day around mile 55.
Dinner
Cyclists arrive at camp to a light bbq and assorted apps. Full dinner serves at 6:30pm each night. Friday's meal is typically pasta with or without meat sauce. Saturday is a full menu prepped, cooked and served by our friends at Salter College!
Food & Drink
All meals, snacks, water, Clif Bars, energy drink, and more is provided to all riders and volunteers. From Friday morning at the start line, through our picnic lunch at Sunday´s finish you will eat well! Vegetarians and vegans - we got you covered!
Beer is served courtesy of our friends at Sam Adams!
Lodging (Friday and Saturday)
We overnight in college dormitories on Friday, at The University of Connecticut, and on Saturday, at Southern Connecticut State University.
Bedding, sheets, towels, etc are NOT provided.
We can only accommodate air conditioning for 120 people at UConn, and those rooms are
an additional $25pp. All dorm rooms on Sat night have a/c at no extra cost.
FINISH LINE
~OUR FINISH LINE HAS MOVED TO DOWNTOWN GREENWICH, CT~Greenwich Arrival
Riders can depart New Haven on Sunday Morning as early as 5:15am (twilight). We encourage slower riders to leave earlier and faster riders to leave later, with the idea of everyone arriving in Greenwich around the same time.
Hill Climbing on John Street
Skilled riders looking to show their disgust for ALS will try to arrive in Greenwich early for a bit of a hill climbing session on John Street. Fast riders looking to reach Greenwich early can make it by 11/11:30am. The group departs John Street for downtown Greenwich at 2pm sharp! Click Here for route details.
Greenwich Ave
We're expected at the top of Greenwich Ave at 2:30pm.
Finish-Line
The Finish Line is at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park on Island Beach Ferry Dock at 116-118 Arch Street in downtown Greenwich. Riders can finish at anytime on Sunday, but the pack is expected at around 2:30/3:00pm.
TRANSPORTATION & PARKING
Transportation to Boston
Shuttle busses are available from our finish line in Greenwich on the Thursday before the event for participants needing a ride to the start,
and after the event on Sunday for folks looking to get back to Boston.
Shuttle Busses
We offer shuttle bus service ($10) for Riders and Crew. Participants can select the option for a shuttle bus at time of registration, and may change their selection at anytime up to one-week prior to the event.

Bike Transportation & Bike Shipping
Bike transportation is provided to all riders on any Tri-State Trek shuttle bus at no additional charge.
Riders needing to ship their bikes to Boston may send them to Eastern Mountain Sports for build up. There is a $35 fee for bike build-up or tear-down. Riders can select the bike shipping options at time of registration and may change their selection up to one-week prior to the event.

Weekend Parking
Long Tern Parking; Newton, MA: (Start Line) Long Term Parking is available at Boston College Law School (about 1 mile from the Start Line) at 855 Centre Street in Newton. Gear Trucks will be staged at Long Term Parking, and riders can leave overnight bags and either cycle or take a shuttle to the Start Line.
Long Term Parking; Greenwich, CT: (Finish Line) Weekend Parking will be available for folks taking the shuttle up to Newton from Greenwich. The exact location for long-term parking in Greenwich has not yet been determined, but it will be within 1 mile of the finish line. An email will go out as soon as the site is finialized.
Other Long Term Parking: There is no other long-term parking. Riders cycling a one-day or two-day route will need to make their own travel arrangements. (Day 1 riders may leave their cars in the long term lot in Newton, and take the shuttle home from UConn.
